About the venue
Restaurant Nusantara Tafel was founded by Siti Rahayu, who grew up in an Indonesian-Muslim household in Leiden and made the classic rijsttafel fully halal without losing its complexity: ten to fifteen small dishes, from rendang to gado-gado, circle the table. In the garden stands a satay grill where the skewers are roasted on site.
The hall and garden together seat 90 to 200 guests, spacious enough for a larger family wedding. Siti speaks Dutch and Arabic, works with an all-female team, and usually replies within two days. No alcohol is served, but fresh tea flows all evening, and catering comes entirely from the in-house kitchen.
