About the venue
Ganga Tuinhuis stands on the Waalkade, with a garden sloping down to the river, and owner Sunita Mahabier chose the name after the Ganges on purpose because water has always been part of a ceremony for her family. Instead of a large stage, the house has a small, raised mandap corner in the garden, just big enough for the couple and the pandit, surrounded by guests rather than set apart from them.
The garden house seats 45 to 80 guests and works with a warming kitchen where outside caterers finish their dishes. Sunita usually replies within two days, speaks Hindoestani and Dutch, and helps arrange the thali setup for the ceremony. A covered terrace catches the rain, and free parking is available right on the quay.
