About the venue
Besloten Huis Nur began as host Latifa Yusufi's own home, which she gradually converted into a fully female-run wedding venue after seeing how often brides had to cover up during preparation for male staff walking in and out. Nur, Arabic for light, is spelled out in copper letters on the façade that she had installed herself.
The house suits 40 to 75 guests across two connected rooms, with its own prayer room and wudu corner at the end of the hallway. Latifa usually replies the same day, speaks Arabic and Dari alongside Dutch, and the entire team, from the caterer to the photographer she recommends, is made up of women. No alcohol is served, and the bridal room has its own mirror wall and seating nook for henna preparation.
