About the venue
Theeschip Oosterdok is built in the style of the nineteenth-century tea clippers that once sailed from this dock to Asia, and has translated that history into a saloon full of low sofas, a brass tea bar, and wooden cabinets of loose tea rather than a classic party hall. The boat stays moored at the Panamakade, with the IJ open in view.
The saloon and adjoining deck hold 45 to 100 guests, with its own tea bar where guests can blend their own tea during drinks. Owner Annelies Kramer, who specializes in wedding tea ceremonies, usually replies within two days and can put together an elaborate tea ceremony as an alternative to the classic drinks reception on request. Alcohol is allowed but isn't required through a fixed bar.
