About the venue
Taj Mahal Paleis is a Hindostani banquet hall in The Hague, built around a domed mandap stage that anchors every ceremony rather than sitting there as an afterthought. The stage holds a raised kosha-style throne for the couple, ringed by pillars with gilded relief work, and the hall is laid out so the religious ceremony and the evening reception run straight into each other with no changeover.
The hall seats 270 up to 400 and has run almost exclusively on Hindostani weddings for years: tassa drummers have a fixed spot by the entrance, the kitchen is equipped for tandoor cooking, and a separate room is set aside for the henna night. Hall manager Ravi Baldewsingh usually replies within two days and speaks fluent Hindoestaans, Dutch and English.
