About the venue
Shanti Tuinpaleis sits on an estate along the bank of the Weerwater and has deliberately placed the mandap at the water's edge, so the ceremony gets a reflection in the lake instead of a wall behind it. Landscaped paths wind through the garden around it, with flower beds that change with the season for the photos after the ceremony.
The palace seats 260 to 420 guests, has an on-site tandoor for catering, and allows tassa drummers on the outdoor grounds for the baraat. Venue manager Anjali Baldewsingh speaks Hindoestaans and Dutch and usually replies within two days; a separate room for the henna night is included.
