About the venue
Saraswati Salon occupies a villa on the Oranjesingel that was a music school until recently, and events manager Priya Ramdin deliberately kept the acoustic panelling and tall windows intact when she converted the building. The name refers to the goddess of knowledge and the arts, a nod both to the building's past and to the music that belongs at every ceremony.
The salon is set up for 30 to 55 guests, with a small stage for the tassa drummers Priya can book through her own network on request. She usually replies within two days and speaks Hindoestani, Dutch and English. There is a separate dressing room for the bride, alcohol is allowed at a small bar, and the original parquet floor stays protected under a walkway.
