About the venue
Saraswati Intiem Paleis is named after the goddess of knowledge and the arts and deliberately kept small: where many Hindostani halls grow toward hundreds of guests, this venue focuses on the roka and the smaller wedding of 70 to 140 guests, with a calm, modern interior rather than gold and chandeliers. A separate lounge next to the ceremony room gives the family a place to step back between the different parts of the day.
Owner Devika Sardjoe specializes in styling the engagement ceremony, down to the colour of the table linen and the arrangement of the sindoor bowl, and usually replies within 1 day. The hall serves its own catering from a compact kitchen and has a small terrace used for the henna evening when the weather allows.
