About the venue
Salonboot Amstelglans is permanently moored at the Amstelkade, a short walk from the Amstel bridge, and was purpose-built as a wedding venue ten years ago rather than converted from an old barge — you can tell from the ceiling height and the wide windows that pull the river inside. The outdoor deck wraps all the way around the boat, so guests aren't stuck on one side during drinks.
The saloon seats 60 to 140 guests, has a fixed bar with its own staff, and a sound system that can keep going into the late hours. Owner Willem van Dam works with a regular caterer but allows outside caterers too, and usually replies within two days. Heating and a canopy over the deck mean a rain shower doesn't drive the party indoors.
