About the venue
Salon Paghman occupies a single ground-floor room in a house dating to 1687 on Wijnstraat, with its original ceiling beams and a hearth still intact. Manager Zafar Nabizada deliberately chose to keep it to one room rather than rent out several halls, so the salon is never split between two parties at once and a nikah always gets the whole house's attention; the name refers to the terraced gardens of Paghman near Kabul, which hang on the wall as a painting.
The salon seats 25 to 45 guests at long tables, exactly the size of the closest family at a nikah. Zafar usually replies within two days and can arrange a lunch of traditional Afghan dishes on request, delivered by a caterer two streets over. No alcohol is served, a small room beside the salon serves as a prayer room, and free parking is available on Wijnstraat after 6pm.
