About the venue
Rivierschip De Noordster is a former cargo ship now working as a wedding venue on the Maas, carrying the couple and their guests aboard for most of the reception. The ship departs from the quay near the Veerhaven and makes a slow loop past the Rotterdam skyline, while below deck a small dance floor and the bar are already set for when it moors again.
Captain Willem de Ruiter, who pilots the ship himself and usually replies within two days, takes 60 to 120 guests and works with a fixed on-board caterer. The upper deck is open for an outdoor ceremony in good weather, with the covered hold as the fallback once it rains.
