About the venue
Restaurant Kairo Nachten opened eight years ago on the Breestraat in Leiden and has its own courtyard next to the dining room with a shisha corner, where guests unwind after dinner while the couple make their way round the tables. The kitchen is Egyptian down to the details, from koshari with crispy onions to molokhia soup as an in-between course.
The hall and courtyard together seat 55 to 120 guests. Owner Youssef Farouk speaks Arabic and Dutch, can arrange an engagement evening with the same catering on request, and usually replies within two days. No alcohol is served; instead Arabic coffee keeps flowing all evening, and parking at the venue is free.
