About the venue
Restaurant İstanbul Sofrası has been run by the same family for twenty-three years in the Schilderswijk district of Den Haag, and for a wedding the restaurant closes entirely to the public. The meze spread opens the evening with dozens of small dishes, from stuffed grape leaves to grilled aubergine, before the main courses follow.
The dining room seats 80 to 130 guests and has its own Turkish coffee station that guests can visit throughout the evening. Owner Mehmet Yıldız usually replies within two days, speaks Turkish and Dutch, and pours both wine and rakı as well as alcohol-free options, depending on what the couple prefers.
