About the venue
Restaurant Het Veerhuis served as the waiting house for the Merwede river ferry until the 1970s, and is now a small restaurant that runs weddings around one long set table rather than separate round ones. The open kitchen sits right against the dining room, so the chef talks guests through the dishes as they're plated, and the large windows look straight out over the water where the ferries used to dock.
Seating 55 up to 90, this is the smallest and most intimate venue on this list, aimed at couples who want a chef's-table experience rather than a big hall. Owner-chef Sanne Verweij, who usually replies within a day, builds the menu together with the couple and works from a fixed kitchen with no outside caterers.
