About the venue
Restaurant Al Sham started as a simple neighbourhood spot for shawarma and mezze, but since owner Rami Al-Khatib got married himself, it has grown into a regular venue for Syrian weddings in Enschede. On wedding nights the normal menu closes and the whole place locks its doors: just the couple and their guests around one long mezze table that fills slowly, dish after dish.
The room is compact and personal, seating 45 to 100 guests, and runs a dedicated knafeh station where the cheese-and-syrup dessert is warmed and cut live. Rami speaks Arabic and Dutch, usually replies within two days, and can help arrange an engagement evening in the same room on request. No alcohol is served, but fresh mint tea and Arabic coffee flow all evening, and parking outside is free.
