About the venue
The Poelenburg Moskeezaal was put up twelve years ago by residents themselves, funded through collections and weekend building work, and that history still shows: the hall is used on weekdays for homework help and language classes, and on weekends for weddings. That dual function keeps rental costs low and the atmosphere informal, exactly what many couples from the neighbourhood are looking for.
The hall suits 100 to 220 guests and has a separate kids’ corner, so parents without childcare can still stay and celebrate. Manager Ingrid van der Meer lives in the neighbourhood herself, knows most families personally, and usually replies within a day; outside catering is allowed alongside the in-house warming kitchen. Free parking on the square and a wheelchair-accessible entrance are both standard.
