About the venue
Klipper Noordertij is a restored 1911 two-master that genuinely sails the IJ under canvas during the ceremony — the sails go up the moment the couple is aboard, and the vows are spoken as Amsterdam-Noord slides past to port. After roughly an hour underway, the clipper moors at Houthavenkade for dinner.
The hold below deck has been converted into a heated dining room for 40 to 90 guests, with its own galley where the onboard cook actually cooks rather than just reheating. Skipper Bram Hoekstra has sailed the IJ for fifteen years, usually replies within two days, and times the route so the couple exchanges vows right at sunset. A non-sailing version for guests who'd rather stay off the water can also be arranged.
