About the venue
Kasteelzaal Hernen is one of the few still-inhabited medieval moated castles in the Netherlands and rents out on an exclusive-use basis only: one wedding a day, the whole castle and drawbridge for that party alone. The rooms are still built to medieval scale, so rather than trying to squeeze in as many guests as possible, the castle deliberately keeps the party small.
The great hall and the walled courtyard together hold 55 to 80 guests, with a separate tower room for the ceremony itself. Castle keeper Constance van Wijngaarden usually replies within three days and personally walks every couple through the whole castle before the date is set.
