About the venue
Kasteel Zaanhof was built around 1870 by a timber merchant who made his fortune on the Zaan and had his house crowned with corner turrets modelled on castles he had seen abroad. The ballroom still looks out over the water, with the sails of the neighbouring windmills visible above the rooftops.
The ballroom and the adjoining garden pavilion together seat 65 to 190 guests. Venue manager Pieter Kool was born and raised in the Zaan region and can arrange a short boat trip past the windmills before drinks on request. A jetty on the water, a heated garden pavilion for rainy days, and free parking at the rear are included.
