About the venue
Kasteel Hoog Holten sits on its own island behind a moat just outside Apeldoorn, and the great hall with its beamed ceiling and hearth has hosted official ceremonies for over a century. The registrar performs the civil marriage on site, after which the party crosses the drawbridge to the gardens for photos along the moat and the old oak avenue.
The hall holds 80 to 200 guests and pairs the formal setting with practical extras: an in-house kitchen, a foyer for the reception, and a bridal suite in the east wing. Estate manager Willem van Hoorn usually replies within two days and can also arrange the permit for cold fireworks on the terrace afterwards.
