About the venue
Kasteel Berkenstein is a sixteenth-century moated house just outside Amersfoort that has stayed in the same family for three generations and has been let out exclusively for weddings for the past ten years. The choice was made deliberately never to book two parties on the same day: whoever crosses the drawbridge has the whole grounds to themselves, from the dining hall to the rose garden inside the moat.
The hall and garden together seat 40 to 90 guests. Owner Willem de Groot lives on the estate himself and can arrange a tour of the wine cellar ahead of dinner on request. Free parking outside the moat, a covered terrace for bad weather, and a bridal suite in the east wing are included in the rental.
