About the venue
Hotel Het Oude Veerhuis began as the waiting room for travellers on the IJssel ferry, and still wears that history openly: the original ferry-house beams remain in the wedding room's ceiling, and the windows look out over the same bank where the ferry once docked. The hotel has been kept deliberately small, nineteen rooms, so a wedding never runs back to back with another event.
The wedding room suits 95 to 150 guests and is normally paired with overnight stays for the couple and close family in the rooms upstairs. Hotel director Marloes Bakker arranges the civil ceremony on the jetty in good weather and usually replies within two days. A waterside terrace, an in-house kitchen, and a sound system until midnight are included.
