About the venue
Havezate Wolfsheide is not a castle in the classic sense but a fortified seventeenth-century manor house, ringed by heathland rather than a landscaped garden. The scale is deliberately kept small: the dining room has exactly twelve windows and so never seats more than 90 guests, which keeps the mood homely rather than grand.
The library, its original bookcases still in place, is often used for signing the marriage certificate in a small circle. Hostess Sanne Kuijpers lives on the estate herself and always serves a cup of coffee with home-baked biscuits on arrival. Heating in every room, a walled courtyard for the ceremony, and free parking at the edge of the heath are part of the rental.
