About the venue
Firdaus Zaanzaal used to be stacked with cocoa sacks; the warehouse on the Zaanweg was stripped back to its bare beams and brick ten years ago and rebuilt as an event hall, with the mosque next door as a permanent neighbour. The tall windows and exposed woodwork give the hall a feel that is neither classic nor modern, which is exactly why couples from across the region book their reception here.
The hall suits 180 to 350 guests, split across two spaces separated by a sliding wall. Event manager Peter de Wit works with a fixed roster of caterers who can handle both halal and traditional Dutch menus, and usually replies within two days. A dedicated foyer for the reception line, a sound system running until midnight, and free parking in the back yard are all arranged as standard.
