About the venue
The Vredeskapel started life as the mourning chapel of an adjacent cemetery and stood empty for six years after that cemetery closed in 2014. Havva Demir took over the small building in 2020 and kept the plain timber interior and the round windows; next to it lies a small lawn she uses for an outdoor nikah.
At 50 to 90 guests, this is the smallest hall in Enschede for an Islamic wedding, and well suited to couples who would rather hold a large reception elsewhere. Havva usually replies within a day and helps with the setup herself. No alcohol is served, though there is a small sound system for soft music and free parking by the park.
