About the venue
Buitenplaats Vliethof sits with its front garden directly on the Vliet, the waterway along which Leiden’s regents built their summer houses as early as the seventeenth century. The current main house dates from 1861, but the small chapel in the garden, originally built for the estate’s staff, is a century older and is still used for a short church blessing before the celebration.
Manager Bram Kuiper arranges the blessing in the chapel on request and makes sure the couple walks the path along the pond to the reception hall, where dinner is served. He usually replies within a day. The hall seats 60 to 150 guests, with an in-house kitchen, alcohol permitted at a bar that is not mandatory, and free parking in the back yard.
