About the venue
Boerderij Shahmama takes its name from the centuries-old poplar in Kabul's Bagh-e Bala gardens, which owner Roya Sultani visited as a child with her grandmother. When she bought the farm she planted a double row of poplars that now forms a lane leading to the small barn, and that lane is the backdrop for the couple's arrival.
At 70 to 150 guests, the barn is the smallest of the family farms in the region, suited to an intimate wedding or engagement party. Event manager Roya Sultani usually replies within two days and works with a fixed halal caterer who also puts together custom Afghan dishes. There is a terrace along the lane for dining outside in good weather, and parking on the yard is free.
