About the venue
Ar-Rayyan Eventzaal was added on when the mosque on the Burgemeester Brokxlaan outgrew its original prayer room, and the board decided straight away to build a hall that could also be rented out for weddings. In practice the hall draws a mixed crowd: Turkish-Dutch families wanting their gelin alayı alongside fully Dutch couples simply looking for a spacious, affordable hall.
The hall suits 160 to 300 guests, split across two spaces separated by a sliding wall. Venue manager Willem Bakker works with a fixed group of DJs who can play both Turkish halay and Dutch party music, and usually replies within two days. An in-house commercial kitchen, a Turkish coffee corner at the entrance, and free parking on the grounds are all part of the standard set-up.
